Lake Tahoe

If you’re going to talk about Lake Tahoe, you really have to talk about South Tahoe vs North Tahoe.

In addition, be aware that 2/3 of Lake Tahoe is in California while the rest is Nevada. Heavenly Mountain Resort sits directly on the state line, so head here If you want the distinction of saying you’ve skied from one state to another!

Lake Tahoe is massive with people and businesses all round the Lake areas and a wide range of resorts for all skills levels. Beyond skiing, people love to explore on snowmobiles or take Bobcat Tours. There are also plenty of hiking trails and amazing photo spots.

Lake Tahoe South

There are more resorts in South Tahoe and it’s bit more lively because it’s more populated. South Tahoe is also where you’ll find a thriving nightlife scene and plenty of casinos to keep you occupied when the sun goes down.

During the day, there are a number of resorts but the most popular are Heavenly Mountain Resort, Kirkwood Mountain Resort, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort and are linked here for you to peruse.

Lake Tahoe North

North Tahoe has more private accommodations and less of the resort feel. This area has more of a small town vibe than its neighbor to the south. A must-stop is Jax at the Tracks, a laid back, good-time vibe with comfort food for all!

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows and Northstar California Skiing & Snowboarding are the most popular resorts for ski and snowboarding but click here for a full list of other resorts no matter your winter interests.

Fun Fact! Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in North America and is 99.99% purity. And while you may envy the snowy peaks while reading this blog, the summer is far busier than winter if you can believe it.
